Building Permits

The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) receives applications and handles the administration and inspections of all construction, installations, sitings/movings and demolitions within the village and surrounding areas.
If you are unsure if you need a Building Permit, please review this Building Brochure.

Process

1. Obtain your RDCK Permit Application Form from the Village office or by contacting RDCK directly. Here is a link to the form on the RDCK website.
2. Submit your Building Permit Application to the Nakusp Regional District of the Central Kootenay (RDCK) office.
3. Once RDCK receives the application, they send it to the Village of Nakusp for the Approving Officer to review the land planning portion and approve or deny the application. The final review is sent back to RDCK.
4. RDCK issues the building permit after they finish their review.
Note that it can take several months to obtain approval for a building permit.
